Application Overview

The Bill of Materials System provides the functionality to maintain Product Structure and Standard Cost. The system is also fully integrated with the Order Processing/Inventory Control System, Job Costing and Plant Sales.

Bill of Materials Benefits

Product Structure
The Product Structure function is used to establish bill of materials, based on part numbers in the Inventory Control System. Reports are provided to produce Multi-Level Bill of Materials and Item Where Used Reports. For maximum adaptability, standard costs can be regenerated as often as required. The system automatically uses the replacement costs in the Inventory Master File, Product Structure File, and factors in the Other Burden File to recalculate standard costs. Each time standard costs are regenerated, the system automatically revalues all inventory items.

Management Report Variety
The Cost Analysis Report shows current and prior assembly costs, and cost variances, after costs have been regenerated. The system maintains prior costs for comparison purposes. In addition, Product Structure Master, Product Structure Audit, and the Work Order Report all help to maintain control over engineering data.

On-Line Inquiries
The eCMS Bill of Materials System provides on-line inquiries for the Bill of Materials Structure, Item Where Used List, Indented Assemblies and Assembly Costs to keep you aware of materials status.

Flexible Inventory Transfers
The Bill of Materials System transfers raw materials and sub assemblies from work in process inventory and places the end product into finished goods inventory. Another option available is to generate future requirements into the inventory order master file and make the inventory transfer when the material is required.

Scale Ticket Interface
For material producers, an optional interface to Bill of Materials automatically uploads the digital scale output from the plant system to manage raw material inventories.
